This post is about an issue that is by now a bit dated (though the topic as such certainly isn’t), but we have only just become aware of it and it seemed to us worth rescuing it from the memory hole. In late 2013, the then newest issue of the American Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM for short) defined a new mental illness, the so-called “oppositional defiant disorder” or ODD.

As TheMindUnleashed.org informs us, the definition of this new mental illness essentially amounts to declaring any non-conformity and questioning of authority as a form of insanityAccording to the manual, ODD is defined as:

[…] an “ongoing pattern of disobedient, hostile and defiant behavior,” symptoms include questioning authority, negativity, defiance, argumentativeness, and being easily annoyed.

  1. What a nutty world we live in. First in the 60/70s it was “Question Authority!” now its don’t question authority. I saw ASK AWAY! The Truth sets us free and it is so simple!

Fear says, “I don’t trust GOD. I don’t understand HIM. My own father was crazy, so how can I trust FATHER GOD?” Pride says, “I’ll do this thingy myself! I’ll be my own boss, my own god.” Fear and Pride get married and birth Orphan. Orphan cannot cry out to Daddy (FATHER GOD), saying ABBA!

Believers can and do cry out ABBA! “I don’t understand everything. I don’t understand YOU! Why do YOU allow so much evil? When is it all going to end?” Well, children never to really understand everything do they? and one remains a ‘child’ when they constantly consume and want everything. Parents or ‘adults’ GIVE. Adults REST and obey. We enter into HIS rest when we stop flailing about pitching a temper tantrum. We, in an audacious crazy, faith filled, act of our will, will ourselves to stop and rest. And yes the flesh will take an absolute beating in the process. But the FLESH counts for nothing, as it is the SPIRIT that gives life. When we come to REALize, Who Christ IS, then we rest.

This merry go round will be coming to an abrupt halt very soon.

    1. It is important to understand too, who’s authority we are questioning. Mans or GOD’s?
If it is GOD’s tread carefully: HE does not come near the proud. But if it is mans–rock on!!!

In the last days, good shall be called evil and evil good. That is mental! And those who are righteous in Christ will suffer! Because truth always suffers! But not forever! Hang in there folks, the roller coaster just got crazy!

  2. LOL! Too funny. This must be a post just for me 😉

When I was a child they had no name for a group of us kids that weren’t in any trouble, but where caught in the system anyway. There’s no way to justify locking up kids with no criminal record but you can’t just let them roam the streets. So they diagnosed us with this thing called “chronic maladjustment.” That way they could put a legal hold on us due to mental health problems.

This sounds like my entire online life and most of my political beliefs, “ongoing pattern of disobedient, hostile and defiant behavior,” symptoms include questioning authority, negativity, defiance, argumentativeness, and being easily annoyed.”

LOL, in spite of that, I am surprisingly compliant towards God, but that’s really a no brainer, and to a lesser extent my hubby, but beyond that, I pretty much revel in the defiance 😉
